A special type of robotics classes are the so-called thematic classes. Throughout the school year, there are several significant dates and holidays that can become the starting point for a thematic class. One of the most striking examples are New Year and Christmas. As a rule, the New Year celebration coincides with the end of the first semester of school. The guys, having a thorny six-month journey behind them, welcome the activity dedicated to the New Year (and Christmas) with great pleasure and enthusiasm.
To immerse yourself in the atmosphere of New Year’s magic, we have developed a number of thematic building instructions that will help create a feeling of celebration!
New Year tree Lego Wedo 2.0
What New Year is complete without a New Year tree. The project is aimed at studying the operating modes of the distance sensor: as soon as the gift is under the tree, it rotates, and vice versa, it stops at the moment when the gift is not under the tree.
Our tree is, one might say, a dwarf one, which is why we propose to build a New Year tree of a more “Gulliverian” scale using all the available parts. There is no need to change the mechanical transmission and operating algorithm!
Snowman Lego Wedo 2.0
One of the main assistants of Santa Claus is the Snowman. The bevel gear drives the snowmen’s skis. You can also use the smarthub indicator as a “garland” – and then the snowmen will not only diligently ski towards the New Year, but will also glow with all the lights of the rainbow.
Christmas Penguin Lego Wedo 2.0
Another not so much a symbol of the New Year, but simply a cute symbol of winter and at the same time a feeling of warmth. You can “activate” the penguin using the tilt sensor – after any impact on the sensor, the penguin will begin to step from foot to foot!
Santa Lego Wedo 2.0
And what would we do without the main character – Santa Claus. In his reindeer sleigh, Santa Claus is in a hurry to deliver gifts… but only to those young roboticists who behaved well in class, did not undermine discipline and completed the tasks on their own!
Santa and Rudolph Lego Wedo 2.0
And this is Santa Claus on a sleigh! The sleigh is set in motion using a crank mechanism, and using the built-in microphone you can record the phrase “Ho-Ho-Ho” or any other phrase with a congratulatory context. And lovers of visual information can send the message “Happy New Year and Christmas!” to the screen.
Each building instruction is available for purchase either separately or as part of a New Year set.
We hope that our thematic instructions will help in organizing New Year’s master classes and creating the mood of New Year’s miracle and magic!
